As I was going through the results of FCAT, it was impossible to miss your outstanding results. I was so impressed that I wanted to write you, personally, to let you know how proud I am of you.
Your reading and math scores are among the highest, not just at CHS, not just in Okaloosa County, but in all of Florida. Your extraordinary performance means you have the ability to be one of our state's most successful scholars.
Certainly, you have remarkable potential. By combining your uncommon intellectual capacity with persistent hard work, there are few limits to what you can achieve as a student or in life. If you continue to perform this well- and I'm sure you will- doors will open for important awards and recognition and, ultimately, college scholarships and admission to our state's and our country's leading universities. So I hope you'll push to the very limits of your exceptional academic ability and seize the opportunities that clearly can be yours.
In my experience, success is seldom a solo act. As good as you are and as great as you'll be, you may want to take a moment today to think about a teacher who has helped you by expecting more from you and encouraging you to use your gifts. Please remember to appreciate your family for their support, the loving nudges they provide, and the values you stand for because of them.
As your superintendent, I'll be keeping track of your progress. Please let me know if ever I can be of any assistance to you or your family as you go forward with your education. Again, my warmest congratulations on your terrific scores and best wishes for a great summer.
